The reviews are not all so positive here, BUT I have to disagree. We were seated quickly, our server David was extremely accommodating, he even hand stuffed blue cheese into our olives for our martinis! The food was great, service was awesome, and we even got autographed menus for all of us fans. I'm glad I chose to come here for dinner with our group! Venue is noisy but would so come here again!!!
Eat in the hotel lobby to enjoy dining and drinking options from both LA Market and the Mixing Room. The menu is small, but solid. If one is looking for a comforting, hearty meal, I recommend the strawzzopreti pasta. Price is a little steep at $27 only because of the quality of ingredients...braised veal shank, truffles, and organic eggs. I was able to taste and appreciate the difference. The LA Market Pizza was okay except I'm an onion hater, and the sweet yet pickled flavor of the cipollini onions threw me off. Service was not the best since I was sitting in the lobby, but the people-watching more than made up for it~
AMAZING. if your looking for a great dining experience with privacy this spot is a hidden gem. I usually don't like dining at restaurants inside hotels I stay in (its just me not you... ) but because LA Market is owned by Kerry Simon which owns Simon Restaurant and Lounge at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas I had to try. Service: was impeccable, our waiter was very informative and polite. Although we came during a slow night the service didn't lack luster. You also get an assortment of complimentary breads. Very delicious Food: 5/5 Chef's feature fish of the day: Sea Bass with seafood Risotto Wow, favorite dish in my whole vacation. I'd come back just for this dish. It was amazing, the sea bass was cooked to perfection and the risotto was perfect. You just had to be there to try it.
DINE LA Menu: $34 First Course Choices Ahi Tuna Carpaccio with Opal Basil / Late Summer Squash / Puffed Rice White Corn Soup with Tomato Mousse / Nasturtium Greens / Prawns *My friend ordered the White corn soup and I got the tuna... I wished I got the corn soup. The Tuna was alright but VERY little. It was ONE strip. NOT.WORTH.IT. The soup was SO good and creamy! I ate most of my friend's soup. OMG. Second Course Choices Pan Roasted Salmon with Hen Of The Woods / Blackberry / Young Spinach *My friends ordered the lamb but I don't eat red meat, but they loved it. I got the salmon and it was pretty good. Nothing extravagant or over the top but pretty good. Third Course Choices Red Velvet Cake with Queso Fundido / Chocolate Curls LA Market Cheesecake with Berry Compote / Crema Fresca Fresh Fruit Tart with Raspberry Sauce / White Chocolate *We each ordered the desserts... of all three... the Fresh Fruit Tart was the best... but the other two were good! The Red Velvet is HUGE and it was good but it reminded me of a big cupcake cookie. The cheesecake was good, but it'd be better with ice cream. The fruit tart was very rich and good. But U felt like I could get all of these desserts someplace else in downtown... oh yeah, Syrup Desserts. Bread: The pretzel bread is the best! SERVICE: Ryan was great! Excellent service. He paid a lot of attention to us - yeah we are three cute girls but not like that! He was SO nice. LOCATION: In LA LIVE and JW Marriott. Nice place. Parking is LA LIVE or Valet with Marriott. They ONLY validate the Marriott parking. AMBIANCE: I felt like it was a California feel to it. It didn't look fancy but just a CA relax feel to it. But I wasn't wowed. Just wasn't wowed but it's a good meal. I'd come back.
I booked a New Year's Eve weekend stay at the JW Marriott LA Live and made reservations for NYE dinner. When we arrived the lobby bar and restaurant was super busy. Our friend is a vegan and I asked our waitress Carolyn if Chef Jacob would be able to accommodate her. Chef Jacob graciously came over personally and said he remembered us from our previous dinning experience and took the time to give our friend a couple of choices. I opted to go with the New Years Eve fixed five course meal with the wine pairing which cost an extra $20.00 dollars and included three glasses of wines along with: Persian cucumber Gelee, creme fraiche panna cotta and tzar caviar. Crispy pork belly, salisfy, blackberry. Butter poached lobster, celery root, pancetta and ice wine reduction. Colorado lamb chop, parsnip, maitake mushrooms, pomegranate reduction. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice creme & chilled pear. OMG! What an awesome meal, the wines were paired perfectly with the several courses throughout and everyone in our party was super satisfied. We all agreed this was a memorable dinning experience which lasted several hours and my friend called it DE VINE! Chef Jacob returned after our meal to make sure we were all happy which I felt was so thoughtful and considerate even thought the restaurant was super busy. A big high five to our waitress Carolyn and support staff who was so friendly and professional. In addition to the great dinning experience the staff handed out NYE party hats, and Mardi Gras beads to bring in the new year 2011! If you don't already know - Hells Kitchen season eight winner Nona Sivley will have the head chef position here in January with a annual income of $250k It will be interesting to see how she tweaks things at LA Market.
